Brazil, known for its dengue management, faces new climate-health risks, particularly in Rio de Janeiro, which saw 10,000 dengue cases in early 2024. In response, the city’s Dengue Emergency Operations Center (COE Dengue) was created, bringing together experts across various fields to coordinate efforts. By integrating climate data with health surveillance, the team predicted dengue spikes two months earlier than traditional methods. This resulted in inspecting 2.8 million properties and eliminating 447,000 breeding sites in the first quarter of 2024.
