Alliance for Transformative Action on Climate and Health (ATACH), 2025

Viet Nam is advancing climate resilient sustainable health systems by applying the CReSHCF (Climate Resilient and Environmentally Sustainable Health Care Facilities) framework in select hospitals. This initiative strengthens facility resilience to climate impacts through energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, and structural improvements. The pilot projects integrate environmental sustainability with disaster risk reduction, ensuring that health services remain functional during extreme events. Capacity building and staff training were key components, supporting long-term institutional change. The approach aligns with national climate policies and health strategies, creating a scalable model for other regions. By embedding climate resilient sustainable health principles into infrastructure and operations, Viet Nam demonstrates a proactive, systems-based pathway to protect public health in an era of escalating environmental threats.
