The high-level multi-agency State of Climate Services report is issued by WMO annually. The 2023 Report will examine global and regional demand, uptake, and opportunities for climate information services in the health sector. It will identify where and how future investments can enhance more effective climate services to better protect health from weather, climate and environmental hazards.
Selected case studies will highlight real world examples of how climate information services – such as climate integrated disease surveillance, risk projections, and early warnings – contribute to improved climate resilience or climate mitigation efforts in the health sector.
These examples will pay particular attention to the benefits, impacts and outcomes achieved at the national, regional or global levels through the use of climate information services.
The deadline for submissions has been extended until 20 March 2023.
Climate services for health are mission-oriented processes driven by societal needs, which result in the production and delivery of relevant, authoritative, timely and usable information about weather, climate, climate change, climate variability, trends, and impacts to improve decision-making in climate sensitive sectors. Tailored climate products and services can become a powerful part of the public health toolkit – enhancing our ability to detect, monitor, predict, and manage climate related health risks.
