Alliance for Transformative Action on Climate and Health (ATACH), 2025

Nepal is enhancing health workforce climate action Nepal by developing institutional capacity and climate-informed capabilities within its public health sector. Through the Health National Adaptation Plan (HNAP), the Ministry of Health established a dedicated coordination unit, conducted a national vulnerability assessment, and launched targeted training for healthcare professionals focused on climate-sensitive disease surveillance, early warning systems, and adaptive response strategies. Key challenges addressed include limited stakeholder awareness, insufficient funding, fragmented coordination across sectors, and weak data systems. Solutions implemented involve multisector collaboration, enhanced awareness-raising, resource mobilization, and improved evidence generation and digital surveillance. This model positions Nepal as a forward-looking case in building a resilient, climate-ready health sector through capacity-centered and evidence-driven adaptation strategies.
