Uganda, highly vulnerable to climate change impacts, ranks 173 out of 185 on the global GAIN index. Recognizing this risk, Uganda’s Ministry of Health developed a Vulnerability and Adaptation Assessment (VAA) and a Health National Adaptation Plan (HNAP) in 2024. These plans aim to address climate-related health threats by integrating climate resilience into national policies and mobilizing funding, such as from the Green Climate Fund. Key success factors include Uganda’s national climate policy, political commitment, and dedicated climate-health leadership, which collectively strengthen Uganda’s capacity to mitigate climate-health risks.
