The National Centre for Climate Services (NCCS) addresses the multifaceted impacts of climate change on health in Switzerland. Rising temperatures and frequent heatwaves pose significant risks, especially to the elderly and those requiring care. Heat stress also affects animal welfare, reproduction, and growth, with implications for food safety.Additionally, climate change alters the distribution of pathogens and disease vectors, increasing the likelihood of infections in humans and animals. The NCCS collaborates with federal offices to develop climate services aimed at mitigating these health risks. Initiatives include monitoring heat-related mortality, assessing adaptation measures, and enhancing public awareness. The NCCS-Impacts programme (2022–2025) focuses on creating actionable climate services to support decision-making across sectors. By integrating scientific research with practical measures, Switzerland aims to safeguard public health against the evolving challenges posed by climate change.
