The Senior Partnerships Director will report to the CEO of Business and Scale and serve on the Leadership Team. The position is responsible for overall strategic direction, leadership, execution, and management of HIH’s fundraising strategies and grant and individual donor management, with accountability for developing and executing against annual and multi-year revenue targets. The Senior Partnerships Director will lead, guide, mentor, and supervise HIH’s partnerships team, manage relationships with the global coalition, and fundraise with them. They will equally support the development of the fundraising strategy with the MOH in Indonesia, the BOD, the Associate Board, and strategic advisors. The Senior Partnerships Director will work with the innovative finance team, liaise with the Senior Finance Director on agile and emergent strategy, and help explore new frontiers of financial diversity.

Description

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the CEO of Business and Scale, the Leadership Team, the Board of Directors, the Development Committee, and the Founder, nurture and build upon the organization’s culture of philanthropy to achieve HIH’s scaling goals.
  • With Co-CEOs and the leadership team, lead on developing a strategy to pursue and secure leap funding to scale HIH’s rainforest and community impact.
  • Develop and implement the overall fundraising and partnerships strategy for revenue growth, with an emphasis on soliciting gifts of six- and seven-figures from institutions, individuals, and corporations.
  • Oversee the development of compelling, accurate, timely, high-quality fundraising materials, proposals, and reports to funders in collaboration with the partnerships team, communications director, and the communications team.
  • Develop and oversee annual goal setting, budgeting, operational planning processes, and fundraising strategy to support effective strategy execution. This includes long-range fundraising plans with a minimum goal of $10+ million in revenue raised in 2025 and the ambition to raise leap funding by the end of 2026.
  • Together with the innovative finance team and the Senior Finance Director develop an emergent fundraising strategy, including but not exclusive to biodiversity and carbon credits, multilateral and bilateral funding.
  • Develop HIH’s Coalition fundraising strategy together with the leadership of coalition partner organizations, working closely with them on strategic planning, budgeting, policies, and fundraising execution.
  • Ensure impeccable stewardship of grant resources by overseeing rigorous tracking plans, ongoing management, ensuring regulatory and funder compliance, and monitoring against grant requirements, collaborating with cross-department teams.
  • Steward HNWI together with the Senior Director of Individual Giving and Partnerships, Co-CEOs.
  • In collaboration with strategic advisors prospect research on potential donors from various sectors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Development Committee, Board of Directors, Associate Board, and Ambassadors to drive fundraising efforts; oversee and provide guidance to some of these groups as needed to ensure alignment with organizational goals and fundraising strategies.
  • Together with the CEO of Advocacy and Talent, Advocacy Manager, and Events and Partnerships Manager, prospect, and sustain global events (i.e., UNFCCC / UNCBD COPs, ChangeNow, NYCW, Nexus, Skoll, etc.) for the development of HIH partnerships, fundraising, and advocacy
  • Represent HIH externally through speaking engagements, media interviews, and written communications, fostering transparency and open dialogue.
  • Recruit, and directly manage a team of dedicated individuals in the Partnerships Department. Manage the team with emphasis on HIH values and key components of Health In Harmony values (interconnectedness, reciprocity, active listening, anti-colonial principles)
  • Oversee a professional development plan for each direct report and actively coach and assist direct reports in achieving professional development goals.
  • Develop a comprehensive annual work plan for the partnerships department and lead the team in executing this plan.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in fundraising, business development, or strategic alliances, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within climate and conservation sectors.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and managing high-value partnerships, particularly in climate philanthropy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute with a results-driven approach.
  • Knowledge of the role Indigenous and Afro-descendent communities play in conservation and climate resilience.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
  • A successful track record in executing fundraising on strategy, setting priorities, managing multiple  projects, and working effectively under pressure to achieve individual, team, and organizational goals
  • Proficiency with Salesforce or other donor databases, Google Workspace, wealth screen technology, web-based applications, and Asana or similar project management tools.
  • Ambition and humility.
  • An understanding of anti-colonial approaches to fundraising.
  • Global cultural competency.
  • Experience and credibility in community and/or climate finance in leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale public-private partnerships.
  • Experience supervising a staff team and overseeing a department budget.
  • Advanced organizational skills, attention to detail, reliability, and flexibility.
  • Ability to connect and engage with people across diverse cultures, backgrounds, experiences, and wealth.
  • A commitment to Health In Harmony’s mission and anti-colonial principles.

Health In Harmony (HIH) is a nonprofit organization working to reverse the deforestation of tropical rainforests as a solution to global heating. It does this by partnering with rainforest communities. Health In Harmony’s Radical Listening approach facilitates community-designed solutions to which it brings the necessary resources, such as primary healthcare, organic farming skills, reforestation, and small business creation.

Since 2023 HIH has been scaling its programs through partnerships with Indigenous-led, climate research organizations and non-profits to scale programs in Madagascar and Brazil and a partnership with the Ministry of Health to scale its programs in Indonesia.

The Health In Harmony Global team, with half of its staff based in the US and the other half worldwide, supports international-scale efforts through fundraising, programs, communications, and operations and systems management support.

Salary

$150,000 – $150,000 per year
