OIE, 2014

In recent years, the concept of ‘one-health’ has gained wide acceptance in the scientific community as well as the attention of the development community, policy-makers and politicians. International bodies such as the OIE, the UN agencies, and the World Bank have adopted a ‘one-health’ approach in their collaborative efforts to control avian and zoonotic influenza with pandemic potential and other diseases of animal origin on both a local and global scale. In this special issue of the Review, governmental representatives, organisational heads and experts on these issues from around the world provide insights and experiences that lead readers through the progression of ‘one-health’ from concept to perspectives to practice.
