Chapter 10 of the Health Effects of Climate Change (HECC) in the UK: 2023 report. The synthesis presented in this chapter highlights 2 key insights for public health. Firstly, climate change projections suggest that in future we may see conditions more favourable for wildfires. Public health guidance and climate adaptation strategies are needed to help communities prepare for, respond and recover from wildfires. Second, plans and strategies should adopt a multi-agency all-hazards approach and consider compound health impacts of wildfire events coinciding with periods of extreme hot weather, summer air pollution (ozone) events and drought.
